ACT Brumbies 42 df Queensland Reds 17 at Viking Park, Canberra, ACT
I took in this match at a very crowded Viking Park — which wasn’t handling the extra people very well.
The Brumbies backline certainly looked slick, with Huxley distributing well from fly-half. The match was quite an even contest for the first twenty minutes, then the home side pulled away and the Reds never really looked like catching up. Still, an attractive game and a worthy finale to the inaugural (and probably only) Australian Provincial Championship — to be replaced next year by the new National Club Competition (if it ever gets off the ground.)
