A-League Season 2: Round 14 – Sydney FC vs Queensland Roar

A-League Round 14

Sydney FC 3 df Queensland Roar 0 at Sydney Football Stadium

Sydney dominated this match almost completely, especially after the 20th minute send off of Queensland’s Chad Gibson. Only some superb goal-keeping by the Roar’s Liam Reddy denied the home side even more goals.

Sydney opened the scoring shortly after when Reddy brought down Robbie Middleby in the box with a clumsy challenge, with Ufuk Talay duly converting the resulting spot kick. To rub salt into the wound, Reddy was also shown a yellow card. With the wind in their sails, Sydney continued to attack but were unable to extend their lead in the first half.

The second half continued in much the same way, with Sydney dominating attacking position and chances. Reddy made a series of spectacular saves to keep the Roar in the match but the visitors finally cracked when a Middleby cross found Corica in the box, who headed home. Middleby capped off an excellent match with a late goal to round out the scoring.

Crowd: 12,718
