ARU says no thanks to IRB

Thankfully, the ARU have seen sense and withdrawn their bids for the next two World Cups (2015 and 2019). The absolutely ridiculous amount of money being sought as a guarantee by the international body – £80 million for 2015 rising to £96 million for 2019 – has priced almost all the Rugby playing countries around the world out of hosting the cup. Ideally, none of the unions would be bidding, which would (one would think) force the IRB to back down. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, no matter how high the price, some silly bugger is willing to stump up the cash.
